Pomino Pinot Nero

The 2023 vintage had a mild start, with a few rare cold days and sporadic snowfall. The awakening of spring brought an even budding of the vineyards. The season continued with temperatures below the seasonal average; in May, temperatures were cool, with frequent and above-average rainfall. The summer period – especially August and September – was hot, with almost no rain at all. This situation led to a slightly delayed harvest, with grapes developing complex and elegant aromas.

Wine Variety: Pinot Noir
Maturation: 12 months in French oak barriques
Alcohol content: 13%

Vinification and ageing: Once harvested, the Pinot Noir bunches were fermented in 60 hL truncated conical oak vats at a controlled temperature and, especially in the early stages, with manual punching down to ensure the correct extraction of anthocyanins and polyphenols from the skins. The maceration process lasted a total of two weeks. The alcoholic fermentation was followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak barriques. The Pinot Noir then continued to mature in barriques for a further 12 months. A further period in the bottle completed its journey, ensuring the highest possible quality before it could be tasted.
Organoleptic Notes: Pomino Pinot Nero 2023 is an elegant and lively shade of ruby red with some garnet hues. The nose is extremely floral, with notes reminiscent of rose and geranium, as well as delightful fruity hints of black cherry and intriguing spicy cinnamon notes. Due to the prolonged ageing in wood, the tertiary notes are reminiscent of cocoa powder and coffee. On the palate it is fresh and dry; the tannins are notable but not aggressive. The finish is juicy and persistent. Overall, an elegant and velvety wine.
Available formats: 0.75 L
